Just when I thought human stupidity and cruelty had reached its zenith, another story of animal abuse hits the news that makes me wonder if there's any hope for mankind.
The story to which I refer is about a woman in Minnesota who tried mailing a puppy to Georgia via the U.S. Postal Service. The dog was found by postal workers in a box with no food, water or air holes. Yes, you read that right.
The postal employees reported the woman, who since has been charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. Because she did not post bond, the puppy, a poodle-schnauzer mix named Guess, was placed into the guardianship of the city of Minneapolis. Guess has since been adopted.
