Jack is a delightful dog who deserves a break. He currently is being housed at a high-kill shelter in North Carolina. He needs immediate foster care. Can you help? |
Yesterday, I talked about a story of pet adoption that had a happy ending. Today, I'd like to encourage someone to step forward to help me write another by offering a safe haven to Jack, a 7-year-old Collie mix in urgent need of foster care.
Jack is a friendly and loving dog that remains in an over-populated high-kill shelter. He walks with a limp after being hit by a car. As a result, Jack has a dislocated hip on one side, with some degeneration in the joint. Jack's other hip is deteriorating, too. Despite those challenges, Jack remains mobile. His vet and shelter workders say he is a gentle dog with a very good disposition.
Jack has some other health issues that need attention. He is Heartworm-positive and needs medication immediately. Another problem is that Jack has a problem with his testicles, which may later lead to cancer without treatment. This is not an immediate danger, but the condition needs attention.

In the meantime, Furever Home Dog Rescue in Randolph has set up an emergency "donation fund" to help with Jack's medical needs. They hope to correct some of Jack's medical problems so that he is more likely to be adopted. The goal is $1,000. To donate, visit the Lenoir (NC) County SPCA. Scroll down to "donate today" and add Jack's name in the note section. No PayPal account is required.
Anyone who can foster Jack or give him a loving home, should e-mail FureverHomeRescue@att.net.
The group's volunteers foster the dogs and pups in their homes once they have been vetted and transported here from NC. Visit Furever Home Dog Rescue to see how the adoption process works.

Jack is up-to-date with routine shots. He is medium-sized dog with a medium-length coat. Anyone who can provide a foster or permanent home to Jack, should e-mail Furever Home Dog Rescue at FureverHomeRescue@att.net.
